Cape Adare

Three movements in sonata form, named after Cape Adare — the long shingle spit on the northern tip of Victoria Land, Antarctica, where the first party ever to winter on the continent built their hut in 1899.

Commissioned by the Dutch duo Gertje Bruin and Niels Bijl, who gave the premiere at the festival Suite at De IJsbreker in Amsterdam. The piece has since found an audience among accordionists and has been played by duos in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. It appears in the Catalogue of Polish Accordion Music held by the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

Donemus publishes it for soprano saxophone or clarinet with accordion.
