One of a series of compositions which were created thanks to the collaboration of Katarina and multimedia artist Emmanuel Flores. It was inspired by the physical phenomenon of turbulence - its strength, unpredictability and complexity. After it’s Norwegian premiere, it has been performed in the Netherlands, Spain, the USA, Denmark and Poland. Great interpretation by Margaret Walentynowicz was recorded in the recording studio Gdansk Academy of Music in 2013, and will be placed on the next disc of the composer. https://vimeo.com/50751010

The project is inspired by the physical phenomenon of turbulence: its force, unpredictability and complexity. Visual soundscapes pulsate and develop into an abstract narrative, driven by physical models of turbulence and the growing dramaturgy of the music. From the simple, the complex and forceful emerges, growing through multilayered complexity in space and time. Visualising the sound lets the audience immerse themselves in a new reality.

Mini virtual realities are formed, with their own physicality and logic, and the audience is drawn into these audio-visual spaces. The abstract narrative of music and visuals gives each spectator an imaginative story that is solely their own, much as in the work of Gustav Deutsch, where old movies are cut into loosely connected scenes that become new stories in each viewer’s interpretation. Here the narrative is achieved through formal processes and moves into a forbidden layer that only becomes apparent at the end. Its nature is based on association and contemplation.
