“When Weapons Fall Silent”, commissioned by the Harmonie i Halasy Foundation, draws inspiration from President Zelenskyy’s reflections on the silence following conflict. The work explores the charged atmosphere of paused hostilities through minimal, repetitive patterns that gradually build tension. Percussion drives the narrative, with distant rhythmic motifs echoing like memories of conflict while creating an unsettling ambient landscape. These patterns interweave with sustained orchestral textures, building layers of intensity that mirror the complex emotions of fragile peace. The persistent rhythmic elements and growing orchestral density create an atmosphere of mounting pressure, reflecting the precarious nature of cease-fires and the weight of uncertainty. The work invites contemplation of the charged silence in the wake of violence, and the collective breath held by those who dare to hope for lasting peace.
