I Feel” is an intimate and powerful acapella vocal quartet, adapted by composer Katarina Głowicka from her opera Unknown, I live with you. The text, written by the Afghan poet known under the pen name “Fattemah AH,” captures a profound moment of connection between a mother and her unborn daughter. Through tender, hopeful words, the mother speaks to the life growing within her, carrying dreams of a world where her daughter will be free to live openly and without fear—a future beyond the limitations and struggles she has known.

In Głowicka’s setting, each vocal line represents an emotional layer of the mother’s journey, blending sorrow, yearning, and an undaunted hope for a better future. The harmonies carry a timeless quality, merging both ancient and modern influences to convey the depth of the mother’s promise to her child. The singers move together and apart, embodying both the loneliness and shared strength of women facing the weight of an uncertain world.

“I Feel” was originally brought to life by a remarkable ensemble of performers: Małgorzata Walewska (soprano), Raehan Bryce-Davis (soprano), Sara Jo Bo (alto), and Lucia Lucas (tenore). Their nuanced interpretations infuse the work with raw vulnerability and resolve, echoing the dreams of a mother who, despite her struggles, dares to imagine a brighter world for her daughter.
