Testing the waters

book

Testing the Waters is a publication by CoECi (Centre of Expertise for Creative Innovation) that explores how the arts can contribute to social change without losing their unique power. Through essays, reflections, and examples, the book dives into the dynamic space where art, research, and education meet, asking how creative practices can be both critical and caring in a time of societal transformation. It aims to inspire artists, educators, and researchers to engage with complex social issues in a meaningful and responsible way.

Głowicka’s contribution offers a chapter that brings forward examples of art engaged with communities that are often marginalised, silenced, or overlooked. Her contribution focuses on how artistic practices can act as bridges—connecting with unserved voices and fostering a sense of recognition and agency through creative expression. Drawing from both established and emerging projects, Głowicka highlights the ethical and transformative potential of the arts when rooted in real community relationships.
