Autumn Concerto was written while Glowicka was still a student at the Music Academy Wroclaw (Poland). It was commissioned by Warsaw Autumn Festival with the help of Siemens Foundation, and subsequently premiered during the festival in autumn of 2001.
In 2003, “Autumn Concerto” was recognized as a finalist in the Holland Symfonia Competition, underscoring its artistic merit and Głowicka’s compositional prowess. The concerto’s picturesque movements and evocative themes resonate with the listener, drawing parallels to the expressive and colorful orchestration reminiscent of Lutosławski’s style. Głowicka’s work stands as a testament to her ability to craft music that is both complex and accessible, offering a compelling addition to the contemporary concerto repertoire.
